A masterpiece is a work that is considered the greatest of a person’s career due to outstanding creativity, skill, or workmanship. Eminem’s “Rap God” will be considered his masterpiece, like the Mona Lisa is to Leonardo da Vinci . Eminem pronounces “piece” from “masterpiece” the French way ( pièce ), with two syllables, i.e. pièce de résistance , manipulating the word to fit the rhyme scheme, hence showcasing how masterful he is, though it should be noted that the actual French term for “masterpiece” is chef-d’œuvre . Eminem might also mispronounce the word “masterpiece” to give a shout out to Master P .
