Drake pays homage to Cactus Jack signee and Harlem rapper Sheck Wes. The young artist gained significant attention with the release of his single “Mo Bamba” , named after his friend, a basketballer who plays for the Orlando Magic. Sheck Wes himself is also known for being a very good basketball player . This explains Drakes use of “wetty” – a term derived from “wet” which is used to refer to a player who lands good shots (the ball “splashes” into the net). This line features Sheck Wes' adlib, “bitch!” from the same track and is a response to Sheck Wes' shoutout to Drake on “Mo Bamba” : Call me Drake how a nigga controlla Travis brought Sheck Wes out at his inaugural Governors Ball set in July 2018 and the two performed “Mo Bamba” together. Additionally, Sheck Wes is featured on the track “ NO BYSTANDERS ” along with Juice WRLD .
