The girl has been on holiday in Atlanta but is finally headed back home to Kendrick, who’s from Compton. This line—and much of the verse—also works as a metaphor for the hip-hop game. Southern rap centered on Atlanta has been the dominant force in the rap scene for many years, but now that Kendrick’s on top, it’s coming back to the West Coast. This is also a reference to the song “Going Back to Cali,” though unclear whether it’s the one by Biggie Smalls or LLCool J
