I’m rubber and you’re glue. Whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you Eminem is playing with this phrase used by young children. Instead of bouncing directly back, insults aimed at him will ricochet, a bullet bouncing off steel. This is a more violent image than words just “bouncing” off him. He has played with the rubber/glue theme before, notably on the D12 track “6 in the Morning” : Your words stick to you like crazy glue when you diss me ‘Cause they just bounce off me like bullets do 50 He also does it by using others disses against him to strike back, like he did against ICP . Method Man has also used this phrase . In the earlier line, Eminem used the term innovative. Now those who are listening to “Rap God” need evidence of it so instead of saying “you’re glue and anything you say with bounce back to you” he changes the phrase with his innovation and says anything you say is ricocheting off of him and it’ll glue to you.
