Many of Em’s critics argue that he has become a sellout, and that his works have become commercial products, which no longer honor the spirit of the craft. But Em claims that it is not pop; rather, it’s a fusion of hip-hop, rock, and his secret ingredient shock rap with Doc (which is referred to in the next line). Additionally, Em has garnered countless haters over the years who criticize how his music today is inferior to the music he produced back in the 90’s. They attribute this change to that fact that he has moved from the margins of popularity, to the center of the commercial sphere, becoming the highest selling artist of the 2000’s, and thus becoming a sellout. However, these critics fail to account for the fact that Em has matured, and that his style has evolved, after nearly 2 decades of rapping.
