The Weeknd has only recently gone public about his relationship with Bella Hadid, who has a fairly extensive modeling career – including magazine covers and a friendship with Taylor Swift . It would make sense that Abel had seen her in Instagram posts and magazine photos. While Bella Hadid seems an obvious suspect for the unnamed figure in this song, evidence may also point to singer-songwriter Ariana Grande . Grande recently split ways with her former boyfriend Big Sean after the release of his sophomore album Dark Sky Paradise . Big Sean would have been on the road for promotion of his album during this time – making the photogenic pop-star a plausible choice following her personal song turned music video with The Weeknd, “Love Me Harder.” Either way, Abel no longer wanted this relationship to be known publicly as a friendship. His lust had overcome him, and he needed this girl all to himself.
