Drake may be referring to his late OVO affiliate, Fif , who was gunned down in Toronto in September 2017 . Drake later commemorated him with a tattoo of his face on his forearm a few days after his passing. This may also refer to frequent collaborator, Lil Wayne , whom Drake considers a big brother. He has had a frequent history of almost deadly seizures heightened by his use of the narcotic, lean . Since God is a central theme of the song, Drake could also be comparing the 12 Apostles and Jesus Christ, to his OVO crew members and himself. As Jesus Christ’s most devout disciples, the 12 Apostles were tasked with spreading the gospel of Jesus after his death. Drake has not shied away from deifying himself using the alias ‘6 God’ in past tracks such as 6 God and 10 Bands : I’m the real 6 God, boy If his OVO crew members outlive him, they can tell the story of his rise to fame, much like the Apostles did for Jesus Christ post-mortem. If he happens to die and somebody outlives him in his crew, they can tell you who Drake was behind closed doors, much better than what outside sources write up.
