The outro is sung in Amharic, a Semitic language native to Ethiopia. The Weeknd himself is of Ethiopian descent and Amharic was his first language. 58 On the recorded version of the song, however, a faint female voice croons these final lines, using the feminine conjugates of these words (i.e. Ewedihalehu to say “I love you” to a man). Additionally, Yene konjo is added as a lyric, which means “My beautiful.” In the live version of the song, Abel uses the masculine versions of the same words present in the recorded version. He uses Ewedishalehu meaning “I love you” to a woman, while Yene fikir means “my love”.
