What is the meaning behind “Ever since I left the city”? Hotline Bling by Drake

By ending with this line from the top of the first two verses, it seems like Drake has an infinite list of things that’ve changed with this girl since he blew up. The longing for the old times with his girl before he was famous and she got interested in other guys/traveling the world/etc doesn’t stop at the end of the song. It’s almost as if the song is meant to be played on repeat, which in fact it was, for 12 minutes, when Drake premiered it on the the second episode of the OVO Sound show on Beats1 radio on July 25, 2015 (starts around 1:09:35).
