The Weeknd is in a long distance relationship with his Stargirl, keeping both of them lonely. However, Abel makes it clear that he holds an unwavering love for the female character. Abel split with model Bella Hadid a few weeks prior to the release of Starboy, meaning these lines could refer to their relationship. While the two are said to still hold a great deal of love for each other, rumors also say their relationship ended due to too many scheduling conflicts, which isn’t surprising considering at least 40% of long distance relationships end at some point. This could also allude to Prince’s Purple Rain single, “I Would Die 4 U”.
