The lunar reference here goes along with the previous lyric about strong hitting the Earth like an asteroid . Em also says “pew” in the background, a common sound effect for a laser. Lasers are usually seen as futuristic space weapons like in Star Wars , and particularly in 28video_game%29 video games . Busta Rhymes, who is mentioned in the next line, has a song called “ Shoot for the Moon .” This line is also a reference to an older Eminem song, “Not Afraid” where he says: I shoot for the moon But I’m too busy gazing at the stars “Shooting the moon” is also an idiomatic expression for attempting the impossible or nearly impossible. Eminem is pointing to the impossible level of success he has achieved in the rap game since his emergence.
