A league is an old unit of length that was previously used by seafarers. Em feels his self motivation has helped him be crazy better (ranked higher) than all his competition. It can also mean that he is many levels above the rest, as in sports. Baseball and softball both separate age groups into “leagues”: Little League, Peewee, etc.
